Today, I’m introducing you to Lynn at From Our Bookshelf.
That’s where she and her daughter, Gracelyn, have been writing book reviews and sharing booklists for eight years.
Lynn is one of my go-tos for nonfiction book recommendations, and her website is a treasure trove of book lists and reviews.
She’s also no slouch in the kitchen!
I can’t wait for you to get to know her.

And now, I’ll let Lynn take it away!
All About Lynn
I love to read and talk about books. Reading was an escape for me growing up. Now, I use it to both educate myself and to relax. I enjoy all kinds of books, but I especially love nonfiction, historical fiction, and mystery.
I also love finding great backlist books and less popular books that deserve some hype. My daughter Gracelyn and I started From Our Bookshelf in 2016, and it has been a fun way to talk all about books and reading.
Q: What are you reading right now?
A: Dressmakers of Auschwitz by Lucy Adlington, 27 Summers by Ronald Olivier, The Grantchester Mysteries by James Runcie, The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald, and The Turtle House by Amanda Churchill
Books that Lynn Read and Loved
The Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene. The small-town school I went to growing up had a very small library, but it had a ton of Nancy Drew books. I think I read them all. They were the first books that I remember really loving.
The Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. They took me to a time and place that was so different than the world that I knew as a kid.
Shadow of the Almighty by Elisabeth Elliot. This was one of the first Christian biographies that I remember reading as a teenager and it gave me a love of all kinds of biographies.
Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. Read my review.
Crow Mary by Kathleen Grissom. Read my review.
Like a River by Granger Smith. Read my review.

I love Lynn’s literary pet peeve! I’ll have to check out her historical fiction references, as it sounds like she knows what to look for.
I've been following the From Our Bookshelf blog since 2019 and appreciate Lynn and Gracelyn's honest book reviews. Countless times when I've been in a bookshop or the library unsure of what to read next, I've pulled up their blog and found such great recommendations. One of my favorite things is Lynn's "Nonfiction Book for Every State" challenge!
